Our Decade of Action

If you think about it, 2030 is not that far away. The United Nations have established their Agenda 2030 with the ‘Decade of action’ based on the Sustainable Development Goals, which leaves us with less than ten years to transform the world to a better place. At Duni Group we have decided to recognize our own ‘Decade of Action’ to accelerate the transformation of our company to ultimately give more to the planet than we take.

The world around us is changing at an accelerating speed. Climate change and the need for a more sustainable and circular future are at the core of these changes, fueled by digitalization. These areas are close to our hearts and now we begin our journey leading up to 2030, not only because we have to but also because we want to.

Duni Group aim to be an industry leader and drive development within sustainability and circularity as we advance. Preferably, we should be the trusted sustainability leader in our sector, leaving a linear business model behind in favor of a fully circular model. But this is not something we can do by ourselves; it requires collaboration, partnerships, and investments in innovation.

It is a positive transformation as we wholeheartedly believe in a circular and sustainable development. To guide us, we have developed a new higher purpose, a new vision for 2030 and company values. ‘Our Decade of Action’ is only just beginning but care for the planet and our well-being has been at heart of our company. We support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and our CEO has also signed the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

Duni Group’s journey towards fossil-free operations continues as the first delivery of fossil free propane gas (BioLPG) arrived at the subsidiary Rexcell Tissue & Airlaid’s in Skåpafors. The transition to BioLPG is a major step forward to an increasingly circular business model and a lower climate impact. Duni Group is therefore the first company in the paper industry and the world to use BioLPG.

In 2020, it became even clearer that climate change represents the greatest challenge of our time. More dramatic forest fires, landslides, record-hot heatwaves, droughts and water shortages demonstrated the increasingly urgent need to transition to a fossil-free economy.
