Duni Group's Bio Dunisoft® Becomes the World's First Nordic Swan Ecolabelled Airlaid Napkin
Duni Group proudly announces that Bio Dunisoft® has received the prestigious Nordic Swan Ecolabel, making it the world’s first Airlaid napkin to achieve this certification. This milestone represents a significant step forward in Duni Group’s long-term sustainability goals, which include transitioning to fossil-free materials and achieving its approved Science Based Targets.
Since its launch in 2021, Bio Dunisoft®—made entirely from renewable materials—has contributed positively to the premium napkin market. Utilizing OrganoClick’s patented, biobased, and plastic-free binder, the napkin has reduced its carbon footprint by approximately 20% compared to traditional Dunisoft napkins. This makes it a compelling choice for customers seeking to minimize their climate impact without compromising on quality or design. Now, it has achieved yet another milestone: becoming the world’s first Swan Ecolabelled Airlaid napkin.
- “The Swan Ecolabel for Bio Dunisoft® is a major achievement in our journey to becoming a trusted sustainability leader. It’s a tangible step towards our ambitious 2030 targets, which include fossil-free materials and reduced climate impact. This certification means our customers can choose a premium napkin that meets stringent environmental standards,” says Robert Dackeskog, CEO of Duni Group.
Bio Dunisoft® is designed to be both soft and durable, making it perfect for all types of dining occasions. Its certification as home-compostable further strengthens its sustainability profile, making it the ideal choice for environmentally conscious consumers.
- “We are pleased to expand the scope of the Swan Ecolabel with a new product category and to see Duni Group leading the way in meeting the criteria for an ecolabelled Airlaid napkin. This is a clear example of how high quality and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand, and we look forward to seeing more companies follow suit,” says Anna Linusson, CEO of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
Airlaid is an innovative production process for cellulose and fiber materials that creates a soft and absorbent surface, making it highly suitable for paper-based napkins and table covers. Unlike traditional napkin production, where fibers are bound with water, the airlaid process uses air to distribute the fibers and binds them with a binder. This results in a strong, durable material that combines excellent absorbency with a soft, high-quality texture.
Bio Dunisoft® exemplifies how airlaid technology can be leveraged to create sustainable, Swan Ecolabelled products that meet high standards of quality while delivering on environmental ambitions.
* The Swan Ecolabel applies exclusively to Duni’s white Bio Dunisoft® napkin.
