Four Christmas table top trends to look out for in 2018
We love the variety of festive Christmas table setting trends that are seen in the hospitality sector - from contemporary to traditional, opulent to rustic, and Scandinavian, to name a few. Christmas is the time of the year when restaurants and hotels move away from standard white napkins and table coverings to eye-catching festive designs – creating an unique dining atmosphere that becomes a talking point amongst diners and creates a perfect frame for those Instagram worthy moments.
Here are some of our favourite Christmas Table Top design trends and Instagram perfect ideas for 2018 that will set you apart from your competition.
1. The timeless traditional classics
Colour is a very powerful way to create ambiance especially during the festive period. In the hospitality sector, the traditional red, burgundy, green, cream and gold set out the stage for a reassuringly traditional yet delightfully dramatic Christmas and will again be the amongst the most popular colours featured this year.
For the more glamourous feel many are turning to a combination of black, gold/silver and white. This contrast of colours creates an exquisite mood with just a hint of mystery - which also works perfectly for New Year parties.
A new colour trend this year is icy-blue and features in our ‘Winter Mornings’ napkin design, which displays a frozen winter landscape with accents of white and silver. We think that this design is perfect for creating an unmistakeable winter wonderland feeling within a restaurant.
2. Rustic feel with craft designs
Craft designs have really established themselves as one of the firm favourites amongst hotels and restaurants. These rustic and homely designs both in napkins and table coverings work well with the current restaurant and pub interior design trends.
Interestingly, they often work very well not only with craft design crackers but also with silver crackers, allowing you to either dress-up or dress-down your table depending on the impression you want to make.
Some of the craft Christmas Cracker designs have been, undoubtably, fuelled by our love for all things Nordic, as they have a definite Scandinavian feel to them, like the ‘Winter’s Tale’ Christmas Crackers.
On the other end of the spectrum, the glistening, sparkly Christmas Crackers continue growing in popularity. An insider tip – it is always worth making sure that the sparkle in your Christmas Crackers stays firmly in place and doesn’t leave your tables and diners covered in glitter. For example, our Brilliance Christmas Crackers are made from high-quality materials where the glitter is encapsulated, giving a fantastic sparkle but without the mess.
3. Bringing the festive feel with LED lighting
Christmas is very much about festive lights, with lighting being a powerful way of creating that special party atmosphere. Whether it is casual, homely or glamourous, decorating your restaurant or party venue with different types of lights will not only draw in customers, but will keep them coming back time and time again for the atmosphere.
The biggest lighting innovation in the HoReCa sector in recent years is emergence of professional LED lighting. Safety, convenience and cost savings compared to traditional candles make LED lighting ideal for restaurants and hotels. Professional LED lighting offers endless opportunities for innovative lighting displays both indoors and outdoors during the Christmas period.
4. Celebrating sustainable design
The increasing consumer demand for more environmentally conscious products is reflected in the hospitality sector with a growing range of sustainably designed products available - from FSC® certified and compostable festive napkins, to energy efficient LED lighting.
For example, our Spirit of Christmas Cracker range, launched this year, was created to meet the demand from the eco-conscious diners. 100% plastic free, recyclable once used and with each purchase also giving a donation to the charity Shelter, they are already proving to be a winner amongst responsible-minded restaurants and hotels.
Changing the look of a restaurant over the festive period not only gives guests an instant wow-factor on arrival, but also can quickly become a hit on Social Media as more and more guests look to share their experience with friends, creating great publicity for businesses for the year ahead.
Christmas crackers are only available in the UK market.
