Meet David Elschen, one of our young leaders in Duni Group 🚀
David joined Duni Group back in 2019 as a leader for the Maintenance & Service apprentice program at our factory in Bramsche, Germany.
💥 What are the best parts of your job?
Working with talented young people who are eager to learn is definitely the best thing. Our diverse team enables an exchange of ideas and knowledge that brings value to both the workplace and on a personal level. My goal is to support and develop my co-workers, and when I see that happening it gives me energy to continue to grow as a leader.
💥 Have you encountered any challenges?
There are always challenges out there, that’s what makes the job so rewarding. Coming from a technical background, I had to learn (and continue to learn) more ‘soft skills’ that the leadership role requires. Experience is not all, everyone can learn, it’s just a matter of mind-set, and to be given the right tools along the way. To be challenged is a good thing.
One hands on challenge I have is to recruit more women to the apprentice program. That is one of my goals for 2022!
💥 Any tips for future leaders?
Be friendly! You can’t go wrong with being friendly and showing respect. All people are unique and require different support which is why it is so important to see the individual. With mutual respect for everyone, no matter ethnicity, gender, or age we can build great teams and learn from each other.
