There is never room for food loss and waste!

Today is the United Nations International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste. This day is to promote awareness and collective action to reduce food loss and waste.

We asked Selma Halepovic, Duni Group’s Communication Manager business area On the go, for her 3 best tips to prevent food loss and waste:

Make it easy to save leftovers. Acquire smart take-away packaging that can make it possible to store food safely for the next time it can be eaten. When eating out, ask for take-away boxes to bring leftovers home instead of throwing food away. Our BioPak assortment contains many different packaging solutions ready to help combat food waste.

Imperfect can be perfectly fine. Size, shape, colour, and cancelled orders are all reasons for food to get thrown out even though they’re perfectly safe to use. Attractive packaging and creative communication can re-wake the interest in these.

Start awareness early. The best way to prevent food waste is to take preventive measures from the start. This is an important thing that we also need to teach our kids. One example, to show how much food is wasted, schools can visualize how much food is thrown out by each class every day.

Thank you Selma for sharing!
